The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

Stored in your air conditioner’s coils, refrigerants are liquids that cool and dehumidify your air. If there weren’t refrigerants, there wouldn’t be air conditioning. Over the years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce as a result of its damage to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo reduce environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now designed to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and doesn’t contain chlorine, which means it’s ozone-friendly. You can feel at ease using this refrigerant in Mobile because it’ll help make your AC perform efficiently, reliably and quietly, and deliver the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was made before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You may want to think about upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is completely out of production. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to operate your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Farnell Heating & Air Conditioning Inc work with R-410A, so you know we have an AC or heat pump more suited to your needs. Be sure to steer clear of”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
